The drive is not only gorgeous, but just long enough to enjoy that getaway, road trip feeling. The region feels completely different but is still close enough to be efficient with your time!
Grab your partner, or family and friends and let the peaceful landscape help you take a load off. You will enjoy two beautiful Texas-sized porches where you will watch sunsets in the evening and listen to wildlife in the morning. You will feel a sense of peace enjoying nature, and feel free to do a whole lot of nothing for a while!
You will lounge off the patio in a Cowboy Pool to help beat the heat in the summer! It is also heated so you can enjoy it during the colder months! You and your group can hold a ping pong tournament in the loft, along with other games that will surely keep the kids entertained for hours.
OR...spend half days or full days attending local events and festivals all year round. Visit a calendar of local events at a website called 101 Highland Lakes.

The home has two beautifully decorated primary rooms, one with a queen bed, and one with a king bed.
The kitchen has a large island surrounded by bar seating, which opens up to a beautiful living room with a fireplace, two couches and two chairs. The space was intentionally designed to facilitate connection and conversation with your group.
The loft has ping pong, mini-basketball, an extra TV for gaming or movies, and a futon. If you have a larger group, the loft holds an adult size bunk bed with very comfortable full size beds. The massive bunk bed has 2 full size beds and if needed, a third full size slide-out trundle bed. The bunk is perfect for sleeping a full family, all the kids, or any group combination!
Aside from Blondie (our dog) you may also encounter our longhorns on the road or nearby the house. Please drive carefully, especially at night, and do not approach or feed them for your own safety.

Tips for Making the Most of Your Stay

House Rules
- Please drive no faster than 25 MPH along the main road / easement in Vasterling Creek Ranch
- No off roading in Vasterling Creek Ranch
- No Smoking inside - Smoking is only allowed in outside areas
- Please be conservative with water use, as the house is on a well
- DO NOT put anything in the toilet except toilet paper, we are on a sensitive septic system
- Please remove shoes when entering the home
- No leaning against rail in loft area
- No parties or events
- Quiet hours between 11pm and 6am
- Do not use white bath towels for the river. River towels are provided and can be found on the shelf in the laundry room Please hang up or lay out wet towels after use
- Please wipe down lawn chairs and put them back in the storage bench on the back patio after use
- NO glass at the river. Please respect the Llano river and clean up after yourselves.
- Please stay within the boundaries of the house and refrain from joy walking outside the yard area (WARNING: Snakes are present, especially in summer)
Important Tips:
Enjoying the River: We provide river towels on a shelf above the washer and dryer. On the back patio there is a storage bench which holds lawn chairs for you to use at the river! Please respect the river by cleaning up and taking no glass.
Heating and Cooling: The A/C and Heating system is a mini split system. It’s important that all the air handlers in the rooms, loft and kitchen are in the same setting. They must ALL be on cool or heat etc, or it throws an error.
River Access: From the front gate, drive 1 mile east (toward LLano) on Ranch Road 152 and take a left on Ranch Road 103. Drive down toward the bridge and look for first available parking
Bugs at Night: Because we are in the country, bugs will heavily swarm toward the lights. It is best to turn off the lower porch lights, and only utilize the upper lights, so bugs stay up high. This will prevent bugs darting inside every time you open the door. Another great tip is to only turn on the carport lights so bugs stay on the side of the house.
WARNING: Please remember that you are in the country, so please be aware of your surroundings, as snakes, wild boar, and other wildlife are present. Snakes are especially active in the summer. Respect the wildlife.
Other Details to Note
If you are interested in having slightly more than 10 people in your party, it can be accommodated. Please contact me.
Please pay attention to property lines and do not cross into our neighbors land (easily identified by fences and electric lines).
Please walk the land with caution and awareness that you are in raw nature.. Snakes are present as well as wild boar during mornings and evenings.

We stayed at this ranch for two nights in late August. We really enjoyed our stay! The house was extremely clean and comfortable. Michael had some great recommendations for nearby restaurants. The kids loved the cowboy pool, and rambling around the roads on the property. We spotted a couple of longhorns on the neighbouring lot. Highly recommended!

Our Hill Country Escape is located in Vasterling Creek Ranch, on a beautiful and private 55 acre lot. You will find us off Ranch Road 152 west of LLano and close to Castell.
The high side of the property, where the home sits, has gorgeous hill country views surrounding it.
Please remember that you are in the country, so please be aware of your surroundings, as snakes and other wildlife are present. If you'd like to enjoy a walk or jog, we recommend you do so on the main road coming in, which is very rarely used.
We are only 3 miles from the famous General Store in Castell, where you can find good people, food and drinks. The frequency of activities happening at the General Store are amazing, so definitely check it out and drop in for a meal, drink or full-on party!
As you head to this region west of the Austin area, we are positioned just far enough to see the landscape change to rising granite and beautiful green mountains. The area is a unique geographical area of granite, called the "LLano Uplift".
Our home is a secluded getaway, far enough away for privacy, but close enough to enjoy daytime activities like the LLano River, nearby Wineries, Castel General Store, Burnet, Enchanted Rock, Fredricksburg and much more.. Check out our Guidebook in the app for activity recommendations.
